Divine Inventions

Gorgeous sunrises, majestic mountains, vast seas, towering trees, colorful flowers, bubbling brooks, fluffy white clouds, and brilliant sunsets are the brush strokes of universe’s greatest Artist. Singing birds, roaring lions, bounding deer, barking seals, fluttering butterflies and even dinosaur bones fill the earth with evidence that testifies of an intelligent Designer. Our world is brimming with examples of God’s genius and beauty. It is mankind’s privilege to enjoy and care for all God has made.

In short, God is an inventor. Anything mankind has been able to invent is only a feeble attempt to mimic his Creator. God invented engines when he made plants and animals that consume fuel and accomplish tasks. He invented incredible cameras when he gave animals eyesight. He even invented a pump that will run non-stop for as long as 100 years and he put it behind a protective rib cage and programmed it to pump life-blood throughout the bodies which he formed from the dust of the ground. To this day man continues to study and mimic the brain that God made, but the most powerful computers still pale in comparison.

While you may have been humble enough and perceptive enough to see God as your Creator, have you considered that when God invented the world He also invented principles for His inventions to live by – keys to success? Nothing is more beautiful than a life lived God’s way. God invented rules to maximize:
The adventure of childhood
The marriage of one man and one woman for life
The joy of parenting
The beauty of love and friendships.
The pursuit of love, joy, peace, mercy, kindness, hope…
It is no wonder so many people still find time each day to express their awe and gratitude toward God! The believer revels in a relationship with a God who invented everything that has been mentioned and then topped it off with gifts such as prayer, healing, salvation and eternal life.

With the above concept in mind, the whole human experience might begin to make a little more sense. Stated simply: God invented the world and its inhabitants. He made rules by which His inventions would prosper. Wise men embrace His creation and His rules. Sin and evil attempt to destroy or contaminate God’s inventions. You and I can choose to be a part of His eternal kingdom or we can opt out and miss the joy He has prepared for us.

So, how does one go about surviving in a world where sin and evil abound? Well, one of the most comforting and tender concepts in the entire Bible is the idea that God invented the idea of us being His children. He has plans for you! Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (New International Version) It was God’s idea to give us the option of being one of His kids. He does that by filling us with His Spirit and helping us live life by His principles and with His help. The Divine Inventor invented a way in which weak, imperfect, people can be great successes just by letting God be their daily inspiration. He is the inventor and sustainer of life. We can relax in His care!
Perhaps you recognize God as the great inventor and have put your trust in Him but still struggle with making life work. If so, you might be encouraged by the advice of the Apostle Paul who said: “Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God's Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren't smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it? Did you go through this whole painful learning process for nothing? It is not yet a total loss, but it certainly will be if you keep this up! Answer this question: Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you? Don't these things happen among you just as they happened with Abraham? He believed God, and that act of belief was turned into a life that was right with God. Galatians 3:2-6 (The Message)
The Great Inventor has big plans for you. If you started your journey as a believer by being weak and casting your cares on Him, you can finish you journey in the same manner. Your job is to believe and obey. You don’t have to come up with the solutions; just keep your heart in the following mode. Seek Him through prayer. Let Him refine you. Live by His principles. Enjoy being His invention.
