A
belief in angels seems to be on the uptick of late. I believe in them. Although the occasions may be rare, I believe
that angels that are in submission to God can protect and connect with people. My faith comes from the historical record of
Scripture and from modern day stories that confirm such realities. Don't you think it would be an extraordinary
honor should God direct an angel to give you a message - especially during the
holiday season? If angels were to send Christmas cards what do you suppose they would
they say?
One could make a pretty
accurate hypothesis as to what angels might say by looking at what they have
said in the past.
Here's
the message the angel, Gabriel, gave to the virgin Mary: " Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the
Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women... Fear not,
Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in
thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be
great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give
unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of
Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." (Luke 1:28-33)
Then
there was the message given to the poor shepherds on the night of Jesus' birth:
" Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which
shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in
the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And
this shall be a sign unto you;
Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And
suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising
God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and
on earth peace, good will toward men."(Luke 2:10-14)
If angels sent Christmas cards, my guess is they would say
something like this:
Blessed and highly favored are all of you who allow
God to direct your life and
accomplish his will on earth!
Please, do not be afraid at what you see around you,
because Jesus still runs the universe. The first Christmas was a dramatic
demonstration that He is God, but He can make a difference among men.
He may have
lived in humble circumstances while on earth, but that was to show you that He
is loving and that He can identify with the struggles of everyday people.
Give honor and glory to God, because He is willing to
give peace on earth and do good things for those who will align their hearts
with His kingdom.
When you become a part of what God is doing, you
become a part of something that is beyond this dimension of time and space -
you become a part of something that will soon be revealed, that will become
greater and greater, and that will never end!
